I BUILD THROUGH NUTRITION
After the two earthquakes on June 24, 2026, in northwestern Venezuela (6,125 dead and 17,907 homeless), thousands of babies, children, and mothers face a serious risk of malnutrition.
In response, the Chamos Foundation activated I Build Through Nutrition to expand its Nutritional Recovery Program (PRN) – active since 2018 – and absorb the increase in cases at Magallanes Hospital in Catia (Caracas) and in Río Chico (Miranda).
Comprehensive care and program protocol:
The program assists children under 5 at risk and pregnant/lactating mothers under medical supervision:
Clinical evaluation: Regular consultations (weekly in Catia, bi-weekly in Río Chico) with weight, height, and mid-upper arm circumference (MUAC) monitoring.
Specialized nutritional treatment: Infant formula (6 to 12 months) and Ready-to-Use Therapeutic Food (RUTF according to severity: red, orange, or yellow).
Supplementation and water purification: Multivitamins for mothers and babies, and supplies for water purification.
Continuous follow-up: Continuous 20-week (5-month) treatment cycle supervised by a specialized medical team.
Program capacity and cost:
The program already has operational medical capacity and infrastructure. EUR 6,000 funds the complete 20-week treatment for 21 children (approximate cost of EUR 280 / USD 318 per child).
Every contribution guarantees the nutrition, healthy development, and life of a child affected by the crisis.
