I build by healing
The earthquake of June 24, 2026, directly hit La Guaira and other coastal communities in Venezuela, leaving thousands of families homeless. Many of them have moved to neighboring communities in search of shelter and care.
In response, Chamos Foundation is sustaining and expanding Comunidad Sana, both in areas directly affected by the earthquakes and in coastal communities that, although not directly impacted by the earthquake, are now receiving a significant number of displaced families and have also lost access to the health centers they regularly frequent in La Guaira, together with Somos Comunidad, Proyecto Mayu, and other partners.
The program continues to offer medical-dental care sessions and its work on access to safe water, now scaled up to meet the increased demand.
Progress to date:
- 100 pediatric consultations carried out in a community in La Guaira.
- A three-day health care session in another locality in La Guaira, with over 500 patients attended.
- Donation of medical equipment and supplies to a hospital in Caracas.
Next steps:
The plan is to continue supporting these communities, identify new needs as the displaced population grows, and continue bringing essential health services to those who need them most.
Every consultation, every session, and every supply delivered supports the health of families displaced by the earthquake.
